Jared Kushner is an American businessman, real estate developer and newspaper publisher. He’s the husband of Ivanka Trump and son-in-law of the 45th U.S. President Donald Trump. Jared Corey Kushner was born into a Jewish family on January 10, 1981 in Livingston, New Jersey. His father, Charles Kushner, is a real estate mogul who was convicted of tax evasion in 2005. He has three siblings, Joshua, Dara and Nicole. Kushner attended Frisch School in Paramus, New Jersey. He graduated from Harvard University in 2003 with a A.B. degree in sociology. Kushner continued his education at New York University. He completed his J.D. and M.B.A. degrees in 2007.
CAREER
Kushner entered the real estate market while attending Harvard. He earned millions buying and selling residential buildings in Somerville, Massachusetts. Kushner was named CEO of Kushner Properties in 2008. He’s since acquired properties in states like New York, New Jersey and Maryland. He purchased the 41-story office building ‘666 Fifth Avenue’ for $1.8 billion in 2007. The retail portion of the building was sold to Stanley Chera in 2008.
Outside of real estate, Kushner is the owner of the New York Observer. He purchased the newspaper company for $10 million back in July 2006. The paper is published weekly and is accessible online. The Observer’s popularity has grown over the years and now reaches upwards of six million monthly users. In 2012, Kushner made a bid to acquire the Los Angeles Dodgers of the MLB. He withdrew his offer a month later.
Kushner was heavily involved in Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. He oversaw online fund-raising, policy speeches, social media and various campaign strategies. The New York Observer was one of the few newspaper to endorse Donald Trump in the Republican primary.
